D4S was commissioned to undertake the connection design and construction modelling as part of the Manchester Airport Terminal 2 development.
Working alongside our client’s structural engineers we designed and detailed the non-standard and complex steelwork connections for the terminal in order to optimize the fabrication procedure. Our scope also included designing all the secondary steelwork elements associated with this phase of works.
Our construction modelling team undertook the modelling and detailing, using Tekla Structures, to a fabrication level of detail.
These first 3 phases of work incorporated almost 200 different connection types, including CIDECT connection and complex torsion and moment connections, designed to undertake numerous load scenarios.
