This historic cottage located in the South Downs National Park , presents a beautiful renovation, retaining its former character, with open plan living, natural lighting and connected living spaces.

What started out as a remodelling of the interior, ultimately became a complete rebuild. During the construction phase the design team uncovered complex maintenance issues, which had resulted in the decay of the superstructure.

Our structures team, supported and worked collaboratively with ArchitectureLIVE and contractors, Brickfield Construction, throughout the challenging process, to provide designs for the alterations, as well as calculations and drawings for building approval. Construction Engineers also provided feasibility checks on the contemporary floating staircase.

This transformative project, demonstrates the importance of open communication and robust relationships across the entire design and build team, to ensure the seamless continuation of delivery in the event of the unexpected – qualities we take great pride in at Design4Structures. We are delighted to see the final result and know that whilst it took an interesting journey, it still exceeded the clients expectations towards a comfortable and modern family home.
