Design 4 Structures was appointed to provide the structural design and detailing for Castleview, a new build site of five bespoke homes in Stogursey, Somerset.
This residential development aims to deliver traditional yet modern and spacious family homes, with each property offering high-quality living space, private gardens, and parking.
Our role included reviewing the traditional engineering design and re-working the structure in light gauge and hot-rolled steel to improve efficiency and ensure suitability.
Delivering RIBA Stages 4 and 5, we reviewed the traditional design and adopted a value-engineered approach to enhance efficiency. By integrating light-gauge steel with hot-rolled steel where appropriate, we achieved a more buildable and cost-effective structure.
Working closely with our client and incorporating U-Roof sections, we removed the requirement for hot-rolled ridge beams by introducing an attic solution formed entirely from light-gauge steel frame. This significantly reduced the overall steel tonnage while maintaining design integrity.
