Strengthening Our Team: Welcoming Five New Team Members to London

Size in engineering is often associated with capability. Our experience suggests it’s more nuanced than that.

At Design 4 Structures, we’ve been deliberate about how we grow. While we remain a relatively small team, we’ve built a high level of technical expertise across engineering, modelling and delivery. Combined with a more integrated way of working, this enables us to take on complex, large-scale schemes with confidence.

We’ve recently welcomed five new people into our London team:

  • Rob Jones, Associate – joins us after nine years with AKT II, with extensive experience delivering major schemes across multiple sectors, particularly high-rise buildings.
  • Katerina Psora, Senior Structural Engineer – brings six years at Pell Frischmann, along with specialist knowledge in retrofit and refurbishment.
  • Alex Bisgood, Structural Engineer – currently working towards chartership, with experience on complex schemes in constrained urban sites and a strong grounding in reinforced concrete design.
  • Bailey Kelly, Structural Engineer – recently relocated from Australia, bringing experience across multiple sectors and build materials and methods.
  • Grace Little, Executive Assistant – joins with a background in construction, providing business-wide support to the executive team.

Each brings experience from across the industry, alongside a shared motivation to be more closely involved in how projects are shaped and delivered.

Within a smaller, integrated team, there is naturally greater visibility across projects, from early-stage thinking through to construction, and a closer connection between design decisions and what happens on site.

As Associate Rob explains:

“The smaller scale of D4S was appealing, particularly the opportunity to be more involved in the wider business and help build the team’s skills and capacity. Being able to offer a more complete structural solution, rather than leaving elements to later stages, was also a big factor.”

There is also a clear emphasis on coordination. Rather than treating elements of design in isolation, the focus is on bringing them together earlier, supporting clearer decision-making and more considered outcomes. As Katerina puts it:

“You’re able to make a tangible difference, both to projects and to the company itself. There’s more involvement in decision-making, exposure to a wider range of responsibilities, and the chance to develop quickly by seeing projects through from concept to completion.”

Alongside the technical side, the day-to-day working environment plays an important role. A close-knit team makes it easier to share ideas, challenge thinking and draw on experience across the business. Access to associates and directors is part of everyday working life, supporting both learning and quality. Alex adds:

“Having direct communication with experienced engineers and directors makes a big impact, both in terms of learning and the type of projects you’re exposed to.”

This latest expansion reflects continued demand for a more integrated approach, bringing together that engineering, modelling and delivery thinking from concept stage.

We’re pleased to welcome Rob, Katerina, Alex, Bailey and Grace, and to continue strengthening a team that combines depth of expertise with a practical, coordinated approach to delivery.
